I was born only to die
To tread bravely on the great divide
Away in a facility in the never-ending sea
The spheres played their music just for me

Now I make my celestial rendezvous
From my great height I wave to you
I gather the minutia and the data makes a line
I'm alone, but I do just fine

Who were we to seek to fly?
Better yet, who were we not to try?
I feel just as innocent as a baby at it's birth
As all our innovations fall to earth

Oh compass, am I slowly drifting?
Is it faithlessness or orbital decay?
Just as my wings of wax are lifting
So do they melt away

Now the sky is a hazy shroud
The volume from the city is much too loud
Illusions and pollution stole the glory anyhow
The night sky is a scrim to me now
